shall be united, and together form one body politic and

 

corporate, it shall be certified in writing to the recor-

 

der of deeds for New Castle county, who is hereby re-

quired to record the same; and thereupon and immedi-

 

ately henceforth the said Wilmington and Susquehan-

 

na Hail Road Company, and the said Delaware and

 

Maryland Rail Road Company, shall be and are here-

by created one body politic and corporate in fact and

 

in law, by the name, style and title of the Wilmington

 

and Susquehanna Rail Road Company, and by and

 

under that corporate name, the holders of the stock of

 

the said rail road companies so united as aforesaid,

 

shall hold, possess and enjoy all the property, rights

 

and privileges, and exercise all the power granted to,

 

and vested in the said rail road companies, or either of

 

them, by this or any other law or laws of this State or

 

of the State of Maryland; Provided, that the number of

 

Directors of said company created by the said union as

 

aforesaid, shall not be less than nine, nor exceeding

Directors— resi-dence, &c.

fifteen, two thirds of whom shall always be residents

 

of the States of Delaware and Maryland, and all of

 

whom shall be stockholders and citizens of the United

 

States; And provided further, that this section shall not

 

go into operation until the Legislature of the State of

Ratification re-quired

Maryland shall have ratified and adopted the same; —

 

Be and the same is hereby ratified and adopted by the

 

General Assembly of this State, and the rights and au-

 

thorities, privileges and powers conferred by the said

 

section, on the Wilmington and Susquehanna, and

 

Delaware and Maryland Rail Road Companies, upon

 

the terms and conditions therein stated are hereby

granted to the said corporations, and to the Wilming-

 

ton and Susquehanna Rail Road Company, when the

 

said companies shall have been united and formed into

 

one corporation, according to the directions and in the

 

manner prescribed by the said first section, and the

 

union of the two companies shall be certified to the clerk

 

of the county court in and for Cecil county, who is here-
