RESOLUTIONS;

dier of the revolutionary war, or to her order, during wi-

dowhood, in half yearly payments, a sum of money equal

No. 47.

Passed Feb.28.1832

Resolution in favor of Elizabeth Harper.

Resolved, That the treasurer of the western shore, pay

to Elizabeth Harper, widow of Samuel Harper, a soldier

of the revolutionary war, or to her order, during widow-

hood, in half yearly payments, a sum of money equal to

the half pay of a private, in consideration for the services

rendered by her said husband.

No. 48.

Passed Feb. 29,1832

Resolution relating the State's claim to certain land in Har-

ford county.

The select committee appointed with instructions to in-

quire into the state's claim to certain land in Harford coun-

ty, called Common Garden Corrected, and whether further

measures ought to be taken to obtain possession of said

land, and also into the propriety of passing an act to quiet

the possession of the present occupants of said land, re-

spectfully report, that they have examined the various do-

cuments relative to this subject, including sundry resolutions

and reports heretofore passed and adopted by the legisla-

ture, from all which it appears either that the claim of the

state to the land in question never had a legal foundation, or

else in the lapse of time all vestiges of its title have disap-

peared.

At various periods during the last thirty six years the

claim of the state has been preferred without effect. The

committee entertaining no doubt, that it will be forever im-

possible for the state to establish any title lo the land afore-

said, and considering the repeated assertions of its claim

has operated as an incumbrance upon the land, not only

lessening its value, but rendering ii impossible for the right-
ful owners to effect a sale of it; therefore recommend the

adoption of the following resolution.
