An Act for the relief of John Childs, of Anne-Arun-
del County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That upon the petition of John Childs, of An-
ne-Arundel county, accompanied with satisfactory proof
that the said John Childs purchased of his sister Cassandra
Childs, who afterwards intermarried with a certain Somer-
set Bowen, of Calvert county, all her right and estate, be-
ing one undivided third part of the land where the said
John Childs now lives, and that he hath paid to the said
Cassandra, and to her husband aforesaid, during her life-
time, part of the purchase money, the county court of An-
ne- Arundel county sitting as a court of equity, shall be, and
is hereby authorised, to appoint the said Somerset Bowen
a trustee to convey the said estate to the said John Childs,
upon payment of the residue of the purchase money there-
of, and to order and decree the payment over a distribu-
tion thereof agreeably to equity.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That a deed so executed by
the trustee so appointed as aforesaid, shall be valid and
effectual to pass all the right, title, interest and estate, of
the said Cassandra Childs, as fully, to all intents and pur-
poses, as if the same had been regularly conveyed by the
said Cassandra in her lifetime, and before her marriage.

An Act for the relief of Garrett Smith, of the City
of Baltimore.
|

|
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the commissioners of insolvent debtors for the city
and county of Baltimore, be and they are hereby autho
rised and empowered, to grant to Garrett Smith, of the
city of Baltimore, the benefit of the several acts of as-
sembly passed for the relief of insolvent debtors; Provid-
ed, the said Garrett Smith shall in all respects (except that
of proving residence,) comply with the requisitions of said
acts of assembly, and that he satisfy the said commission-
ers that he did not come into this state with the view of
obtaining the benefit of the said insolvent laws.
