CHAPTER 20.
A Supplement to an act, entitled, An act to incorporate
the Jackson Beneficial Society of Baltimore, passed
at December session eighteen hundred and nineteen.

Election of of-
ficers
|
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That from and after the passage of this act,
the officers of the Jackson Beneficial Society shall consist
of a president, vice-president, treasurer and secretary, who
shall be elected, by ballot, on the first Monday in March
annually, a majority of the members of said society, pre-
sent at the meeting;, being necessary to constitute a choice;
the society shall also have power to appoint such other of-
ficers as they may deem expedient and necessary, and in
such manner as they may think proper: Provided never-
the less, that nothing herein contained shall have any force
or effect, until this act shall have been accepted by the
members of the corporation, in general meeting assembled.

Repeal
|
Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the second section of
the act to which this is a supplement, be and the same is
hereby repealed.

A Further Supplement to the act, entitled, An act for
the distribution of a certain Fund for the purpose of
establishing Free Schools in the several Counties men-
tioned so far as relates to Harford County.

chase of books
|
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the orphans court of Harford county be and they are
authorised and empowered, on application of a majority of
the school commissioners for said county, to appropriate
annually, out of the free school fund for said county, any
sum not exceeding thirty dollars, to be applied to the pur-
chase of school books for the use of the poor children of
said county, to be distributed by said commissioners in
their respective districts, and by them to be accounted for
in their annual accounts settled with said court
