Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly oj
Maryland, That from and after the passage of this act, the
two directors of the Maryland penitentiary who may be de-
signated by the governor and council as the Executive Com-
mittee, shall each enter into bond to the state of Maryland,
with good and sufficient sureties, to be approved of by the
governor and council, in the penal sum of five thousand dol-
lars, conditioned for the true and faithful discharge of the
duties which are now or may hereafter be required of
them.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted. That if the executive com-
mittee, or either of them, shall fail to give the bond re-
quired by this act, within twenty days alter the notifica-
tion of his or their appointment, it shall he, and is hereby
rendered the duty of the governor and council to appoint
some other person or persons in his or thei place.

Sec. 3. And be it enacted, That the per diem compen-
sation which is or may be allowed to each of the executive
committee, by the board of director shall not exceed the
sum of six hundred and twenty-five dollars in any one
year.

Compensation

Sec, 4. And be it enacted Tnat nothing contained in
the act of assembly passed December session one thou-
sand eight hundred and twenty-eight, chapter sixty-live,
section the first, shall be construed to entitle the executive
committee, or either of them, to any greater compensation
than that which is provided for in the third section of this
act.

Sec. 5. And be it enacted, That all acts or parts of acts
inconsistent with, or repugnant to the provisions of this
act, be and the same are hereby repealed
