Mr. Stevens submitted the following message to the House
of Delegates :

BY THE SENATE,

January 23rd, 1874.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates :

We propose with the concurrence of your Honorable Body,
that the Senators of Baltimore city, act as a Joint Committee
with the Special Committee, heretofore appointed by your
Honorable Body, in relation to the "Police Law" of Balti-
more city, to whom shall be referred all matters appertain-
ing to the said "Police Law."

Secretary.

Which was read, assented to, and sent to the House of
Delegates.

Mr. Brattan, from the Committee on Judical Proceedings,
reported favorably, a bill entitled "An Act to add additional
sections to Article LXXV. of the Code of Public General Laws,
sub-title Practice, enabling the 'Plaintiff in any judgment to
acquire a lein on the judgment debtors property in another
county or iti the city of Baltimore, where judgment was not
originally obtained/ to follow section 83 of said Article."

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Longwell, presented the following

JOINT RESOLUTION.

WHEREAS, Joseph W. Davis is now lying in the Carroll
county jail, under sentence of death, and—

WHEREAS, Both the Court of Appeals and the Legislature
of Maryland, have been invoked to intervene in his behalf
upon the questions respectively presented to them, and inas-
much as these questions may not be determined before the
sixth day of February next, the day on which his execution
is fixed, therefore—

Be it Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the Governor, be and he is hereby requested to grant Joseph
W. Davis, a re'spite for such time as in his discretion he may
deem proper.

Which was read the first time and referred to the Commit-
tee on Judicial Proceedings.
