to literary, religious or benevolent corporations or societies,
and subsequenlty abandoned or no longer used by such cor-
porations or societies,

Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The Senate bill entitled an Act to amend an Act entitled
an Act to incorporate the Merchants Mutual Insurance Com-
pany of Baltimore, and to extend the term of endurance of
the same,

Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The Senate bill entitled an Act for the relief of the
estate of James Spicer, and the sureties of his bond, as tax
collector for the years 1850 and 1851,

Being on second reading,
Was ordered to lie over.

The Senate bill entitled au Act to amend Article XXVI.
of the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, entitled
corporations, as enacted and amended by the General Assem-
bly of Maryland, by an Act passed at the January Session,
1868, chapter 471, by adding thereto the following sections
to follow section 219 of said Article and to be numbered 220,
221, 222 and 223, relating to Building and Homestead As-
sociations, Loan and Land Companies.

Being on its second reading,

Mr. Brattan moved to recommit said bill to the Committee
on Judicial Proceedings.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Steiner submitted the following order :

Ordered, That when the Senate adjourn, it will stand ad-
journed till Monday at 11 o'clock, A. M.

The House bill entitled an Act to add certain sub-sections
to Article XIX. of the Code of Public Local Laws of Somerset
county, relating to Licenses to Retailers,

Being on its second reading,

The President announced that the question was on the
adoption of the bill in place of the unfavorable report.
