Mr. Fields moved to strike out the enacting clause of the
bill.

The motion being put,

It was determined in the negative.

Mr. Steiner moved to reconsider the vote by which Mr.
Brewer's amendment was adopted.

Which was determined in the affirmative.

The question then recurring on the adoption of the amend-
ment it was determined in the negative.

Said bill as amended was then read the second time and
ordered to be engrossed for a third reading.

On motion by Mr. Tuck,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Pensions to report
a bill entitled an Act to provide for the allowance of pensions
to all soldiers of the war of 1812, and to the widows of de-
ceased soldiers, provided they were married before the termi-
nation of the war.

The Clerk of the House of Delegates appeared and deli-
vered

The House bill entitled an Act to repeal section 35 and 17
of chapter 39 of the Act of the General Assembly, passed at
January Session, 1872, to provide for the repair and improve-
ment of the Public Road, in Calvert county.

Which was read the first time and referred to Messrs.
Williams, Getty and Spencer,

Also,

The House bill entitled an Act to provide for the payment
of a sum of money to J. Parran Crane, States' Attorney for
St. Mary's county, for professional services rendered the
State.

Which was read the first time and referred to the Com-
mittee on Finance.

Also,

The House bill entitled an Act to incorporate the Cum-
berland and Ohio Canal Company.

Which was read the first time and referred to the Com-
mittee on Corporations.

The House bill entitled an Act to enable the Commissioners
