of Frostburg, protesting against the passage of a bill pro-
posing to contract the limits of said town.

Also,

The petition of Otis P. Jewett, for the County Commis-
sioners of Allegany county, to take charge of the road called
the Cumberland and Somerset Road.

Which were read and referred to Messrs. McCulloh, Lloyd
and Walsh.

Mr. Brewer presented the memorial of the Maryland State
Temperance Alliance.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Tem-
perence.

Mr. Davis presented the petition of Charles Hamilton,
George F. Folk, William C. Deal, George McDonald, George
Dillihunt and forty-five others, of Waverley, &c., against
the extension of the limits of Baltimore city.

Also,

The petition of William M. Boone, Lloyd W. Williams,
Frederick W. Brune, P. Hanson Hiss, John W. Jenkins,
Richard Cromwell, Samuel Butler, J. O. Kraft, William F.
Foster, Charles W. Deshon and forty-eight others, north of
North Boundary, against the extension of the limits of Bal-
timore city.

Also,

The petition of Henry Gunther, Foss & Homer, George W.
Dorsey, Bowen & Mercer, Benjamin Davis, George Becker,
Lewis Kiefer, F. Hess and seventy others, of Canton, against
the extension of the limits of Baltimore city.

Which were read and referred to the Committee on Judi-
cial Proceedings.

On motion by Mr. McCulloh,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to intro-
duce a bill to alter and amend the charter of the Parker Vein
Coal Company, passed at December Session, 1849, chapter 56,
and amended January Session, 1852, chapter 359, and also
amended at January Session, 1853, chapter 18, so as to le-
galize an increase of the number of shares, and to reduce the
par value thereof, and to authorize the issue of preferred
shares, and also to extend the term of its charter.

Mr. Lloyd presented the petition of the Trustees of Mary-
land Agricultural Society of the Eastern Shore of Maryland,
asking tor a tax on dogs.
