having received the largest number of votes is returned by
the Committee as elected to the Office of Treasurer of Mary-
land.

Whereupon it was declared that the Hon. Barnes Compton,
is duly elected Treasurer.

Mr. Claggett, from a Select Committee, to which leave had
been granted reported a bill entitled ''An Act to authorize the
Mayor and Council of Hagerstown, to borrow money and to
issue bonds for the payment of certain judgments recovered
against them."

Which was read the first time.

On motion by Mr. Claggett,

The rules were suspended so as to give said bill a second
reading this day by yeas and nays as follow :

ervation of fish, and to encourage the breeding and culture of
fish in the waters of the State of Maryland,
