Which was read, assented to, and sent to the House of
Delegates.

Mr. Stevens presented the petition of Elizabeth Nicholson,
widow of Thomas Nicholson, a soldier of the war of 1812,
asking a pension.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pensions.

On motion by Mr. Blake,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to report a bill to regulate the appointment of Directors
of the Maryland Penitentiary.

On motion by Mr. Phelps,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to report a bill to make judgments obtained before a Jus-
tice of the Peace in any of the counties of this State and of
the city of .Baltimore, when one authenticated copy of such
judgment or judgments shall have been recorded in the Clerk's
office of the Circuit Court of the county in which the judg-
ment had been obtained, or recorded in the Clerk's office in
the city of Baltimore, a lien upon the real estate of the per-
son or persons, against whom the judgment had been obtain-
ed, to the same extent and in the same manner as now pro-
vided by law, of judgments obtained in any of the Circuit
Courts of this State, or in Courts for the city of Baltimore.

On motion by Mr. Suit,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Agriculture to re-
port a bill to establish the standard weight of Oats to con-
form with the recognized standard of the United States, 32
lbs. to the bushel.

On motion by Mr. Stevens, it was

Ordered, That ten copies of the Journal of both Houses
be furnished daily to the members of the Senate.

On motion by Mr. Aydelotte,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Aydelotte, Phelps and Spen-
cer, to report a bill supplemental to an Act entitled "An Act

to revise and extend an Act to incorporate the Worcester
