1874.] OF THE SENATE. 581

The Senate bill entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of
money to repair the foot-ways, and pave the streets around
the State House,

Was read the second time.

The question being upon the engrossment of the bill,

Mr. Fields demanding the yeas and nays,

It was determined in the negative as follows :

AFFIRMATIVE.

Messrs. Blake, Getty,
Billingsley, Suit—5.
Davis,

NEGATIVE.

Messrs. President, Longwell,

Brewer, Lloyd,

Brattan, McCulloh,

Earle, Steiner,

Fields, Williams—10.

Mr Earle moved to reconsider the vote by which the Senate
declined to order an engrossment of said bill.

Which was adopted.
On motion by Mr. Blake,

The further consideration of said bill was postponed, and
made the order of the day for Thursday next, March 19th.

The Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal section 16 of the
Act passed at December Session, 1845, chapter 37, entitled
an Act to incorporate the Mutual Insurance Company of
Washington county, and amend and re-enact the said 16th
section, and to repeal the 10th section of the Act passed at
January Session, 1870, chapter 439, entitled an Act to amend
an Act passed at December Session, 1845, chapter 37, enti-
tled an Act to incorporate the Mutual Insurance Company of
Washington county, and the several Acts supplementary
thereto, and to amend and re-enact the said tenth section,

Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

Mr. Stevens called up

The Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal certain sections
of the Code of Public Local Laws, relating to the Courts of
Baltimore city, and to re-enact the following in lieu thereof.

Which was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed
for a third reading by yeas and nays as follows:
