580 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Mar. 16,

On motion by Mr. Earle,

Further proceedings under the call were dispensed with.

The Senate bill entitled an Act to incorporate the Land
Improvement Company of Cecil county,

Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for a
third reading.

The Senate bill entitled an Act for the protection of young
fish in the waters of Elk River and its Tributaries within

the limits of Cecil county,

Was considered and ordered to lie over.
Mr. Fields called up

The Senate bill entitled an Act supplemental to an Act
passed March the 2nd, 1874, entitled an Act to provide for
the defence of Officers of Registration and Judges of Elec-
tion who are or may be indicted in the United States Court,
for acts done in performance of duties imposed by the Con-
stitution and Laws of this State, which acts are alleged to
be in violation of the Act of Congress approved May 31st,
1870, entitled an Act to enforce the rights of citizens of the
United Sates to vote in the several States of this Union and
for other purposes.

On motion by Mr. Fields,

The vote by which the amendment to said bill was adopted
on Friday last,

Was reconsidered.

The question being upon the amendment,

It was rejected.

The said bill was then read the second time.

Mr. Steiner demanding the yeas and nays upon the engross-
ment of the bill,

It was ordered to be engrossed by yeas and nays as follows :
