ber, at Baltimore, and at such other times and places as the
Governor or a majority of the Board may designate. The
office of the Board shall be in Baltimore. The Board may
also appoint and empower committees in each county of the
State and in the city of Baltimore to collect statistical and
other information for the Board. The Board shall also ap-
point a person to act as Treasurer and Secretary, and one or
more agents to visit the landing places of Immigrants, and
for other purposes, and pay to them such salaries as they
may deem proper. The Board is empowered to fill all vacan-
cies.
"SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the Board of Immigration
shall open lists in the different counties of the State, and in
the city of Baltimore, and to receive subscriptions and other
aid from such persons and corporations as may be especially
benefitted by the influx of immigrants. The money and aid
thus received to be used in the interest of immigration."
"Sec. 5. And be it enacted, That the sum of——dollars
per annum, be and the same is hereby, appropriated for the
purpose of carrying out the objects of this bill, all payments
to be made upon the written order of the Governor, and to be
accounted for by the Board of Immigration."
''SEC 6. And it be enacted, That the Board of Immigration
shall annually or oftener, as they may deem advisable, make a
report of their progress, and to lay bi-annually before the Gen-
eral Assembly a full statement of the labor performed under
this Act, and the results accomplished."
SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage."
