EVENING SESSION.

WEDNESDAY EVENING, March 11th, 1874.

The Senate met.

Present the following Senators :

Messrs. President, Blake, Brewer, Brattan, Crawford,
Claggett, Davis, Denson, Earle, Fields, Getty, Knight,
Longwell, Lloyd, Mudd. McCulloh, Phelps, Stevens. Steiner.
Spencer, Suit, Williams, Walsh—23.

The Senate proceeded to the consideration of the unfinished
business of the morning session,

Being the amendment submitted by Mr. Stevens to the
Senate bill in relation to Immigration,

On motion by Mr. Stevens,

The consideration of the said bill was postponed until Friday
next.

On motion by Mr. Earle,

The members of the Committee on Finance were permitted
to withdraw from the Senate to consider important matters
before said Committee.

The President announced the following message from the
House of Delegates :

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

March 11th, 1874.
Gentlemen of the Senate :

We have received your message, asking the return of
House bill entiled an Act to repeal so much of the Act passed
at January Session, 1870, chapter 434, entitled an Act to
extend the jurisdiction of Justices of the Peace, &c., and
herewith return the same.
