D. Jones, and others, of Prince George's county, in relation
to the establishment of a new county.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judicial
Proceedings.

Mr. Suit presented the following communication :

BRYANTOWN, March 4th, 1874.
My Dear Friend :

I have been very sick since last Sunday; had suffered since
Friday night with a severe cold and sore throat, and on Sun-
day, had a chill, with continuous fever since. I am writing
from my bed, and am. in consequence of active remedial
means, too weak to sit up. You will please, therefore, have
me excused for non-attendance in the Senate. Hope I shall
be able to attend next week.

Which was read and ordered to be entered on the Journal.
Mr. Williams, from a Select Committee, reported

The Senate bill entitled an Act to add additional sections
to Article V. of the Code of Public General Laws, title ''Cal-
vert County," sub-title "Taxes," providing for the appoint-
ment of a Treasurer, and a more economical collection of
taxes in Calvert county.

Which was read the first time.

The President announced the order of the day, being

The bill entitled au Act to establish a Board of Public
Charities.

The question being to substitute the bill for the unfavora-
ble report of the Committee on Judicial Proceedings.

On the question being put,

It was determined in the affirmative by yeas and nays as
follows :
