Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to report a bill regulating Sheriff's fees for Garrett
county.
Mr. Tuck, from the Committee on Judicial Proceedings,
reported favorably on
The Senate bill entitled an Act to provide for the restora-
tion of certain ancient records in the office of the Register of
Wills of Anne Arundel county,
With the following amendments :
AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.
Strike out all after the enacting clause in the 2cl section,
and insert the following :
"That when the records, prior to the year 1777, shall have
been restored, as hereby authorized, and the index for the
same time shall have been prepared and found to be correct,
the said Judges shall certify to the Comptroller of the State,
the cost of the same, who shall issue his warrant or warrants
to the Treasurer for the payment therefor, payable to the
persons entitled by such, certificate to receive the same; pro-
vided, the whole cost shall riot exceed the sum of one thou-
sand dollars.
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the expense of restoration,
and of making an index of the records since the year 1777,
shall be paid by Anne Arundel county, and the County Com-
missioners are authorized and required to levy such sum as
may be necessary to pay the same, upon the certificate of the
Judges of the Orphans' Court, showing the amount, and
that said work has been satisfactorily performed.
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this Act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
Strike out after the enacting clause, to the word "records,"
6th line, and insert "that the Register of Wills of Anne
Arundel county, be and he is hereby authorized and empow-
ered, under the direction of the Judges of the Orphans' Court
of said county, to have such of gaid records copied in whole or
in part, and rebound, as in the judgment of said Judges may
require restoration, and also to make two indexes of said
records."
