praying for a reduction of the assessment upon certain bonds
in Allegany county.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Finance.

On motion by Mr. Blake,

Leave was granted to the Committee oh the Chesapeake Bay
and its Tributaries to introduce a bill for the protection and
culture of fish in the waters of this State.

On motion by Mr. Steiner,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Pensions to in-
troduce a bill restoring the names of John Jamison, Richard
Wootton, Jeremiah Frazier, soldiers of the war of 1812,
and Mary Kinney, Catharine Hoffman, Sarah Miller and
Catharine Head, widows of soldiers of the war of 1812, to
the Pension List of the State.

On motion by Mr. Aydelotte, it was

Ordered, That the Committee on Finance be and hereby
are, instructed to Inquire into the expediency of repealing
the law exempting tax on mortgages, and report by bill or
otherewise.

On motion by Mr. Knight,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Federal Relations
to introduce a bill giving the consent of the State of Mary-
land to the purchase by the United States of lands within this
State for public purposes, and ceding jurisdiction thereof to
the United States.

Also,

Leave to introduce a bill to authorize the Upited States to
procure the condemnation of lands within the State of Mary-
land, for certain public purposes, and ceding the jurisdiction
thereof when so condemned to the United States.

On motion by Mr. Getty,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceedings
to report a bul to authorize the Governor to appoint a Notary
Public in Garrett county.

On motion by Mr. Lloyd,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Chesapeake Bay
and its Tributaries to report a bill to establish a Commission
of Fisheries of the State, to regulate its appointment, define
