The proceedings of yesterday, were read and corrected.

The Hon. R. C. Holliday, Secretary of State appeared and
delivered the following communication from his Excellancey,
the Governor:

Gentlemen of the Senate of Maryland:

In compliance with your order of the 16th inst., I here-
with transmit to you the papers and documents on file in the
Executive Department, relative to the case of Joseph Davis,
under sentence of death in Carroll county. I respectfully re-
quest the return of these papers and documents to this De-
partment, when the Senate can dispense with them.
