Leave of absence was granted to Mr. Fields until Tuesday
morning.

On motion by Mr. Walsh,
The Senate adjourned.

MONDAY, January 19th, 1874.

The Senate met pursuant to adjournment.
Prayer by the Rev. W. H. D. Harper.
Present at roll-call the following Senators :

Messrs. President, Adyelotte, Blake, Billingsley, Brattan,
Crawford, Davis, Denson, Earle, Getty, Knight, Mudd, Mc-
Culloh, Phelps, Stevens, Steiner, Spencer—17.

The Journal of Proceedings of Friday last, was read and
approved.

Mr. Blake presented the petitions of Susanna Bond, widow
of Lambert Bond, Achai Owens, widow of Henry Owens,
Mary Goswell, widow of Thomas Goswell, asking pensions.

Which were severally read and referred to the Committee on
Pensions. ,

Mr. Stevens presented the memorial of Thomas Whitridge
& Co., James Corner, & Sons, and others, of Baltimore City,
in relation to the Pilot Laws.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judicial
Proceedings.

On motion by Mr. Billingsley,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance, to intro-
duce a bill to refund to Isaiah Canter a sum of money, erro-
neously paid into the Treasury,

Mr. Steiner presented the petitions of Frederick Hawman
and Henry Shryock, soldiers of the war of 1812, Mary Ann
