LAWS OF MARYLAND.

 

General Assembly of Maryland, and at the general

 

election of delegates every four years thereafter,

 

there shall be a County Treasurer for Prince George

Elected.

county elected by the qualified voters of said county,

 

who shall hold his office for four years, and until

 

a successor is elected and qualified ; and any person

 

holding the office of county treasurer shall be eligible

 

thereto, subject at all times to be removed for willful

 

neglect of duty, or misdemeanor in office, upon con-

 

viction in a court of law.

48. The county treasurer hereafter to be elected

 

shall, before he enters upon the duties of his office,

 

take an oath in due form of law, to perform the du-

 

ties of his office; he shall also execute a good and

 

sufficient bond in the penalty of fifty thousand dol-

 

lars, for the faithful performance of his duty as trea-

 

surer, which bond shall be approved by the judges

 

of the circuit court, only upon a certificate of the

son signing said bond, as appears from the assess-

 

ment books of said county ; and also a certificate of

 

the clerk of the circuit court for said county, certi-

 

fying that the within bonds appear good for the pen-

 

alty of same, over and above all judgments, mort-

 

gages or liens of any kind to be found in his office ;

 

and in case of his default to execute such a bond,

 

within thirty days after his election, the Governor of

 

the State of Maryland shall appoint another in his

 

stead, and so on until a treasurer has bonded as re-

 

quired by this section.

 

51. In case of death or resignation of said treasurer
