Ordered to lie over.

The Senate bill entitled "An Act supplementary to an Act en-
titled an Act to incorporate the Maryland Institution for the
instruction, of the blind, passed May 19th, 1853,"

Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

On motion by Mr. Davis,
The Senate proceeded to Executive Session.
Having resumed Legislative business,

On motion by Mr. Blake,
The Senate adjourned.

WEDNESDAY, February 25th, 1874.

The Senate met.

Prayer by Rev. Wm. H. D. Harper.

The following Senators answered at roll call:

Messrs. President, Aydelott, Blake, Brewer, Billingsley,
Crawford, Claggett, Davis, Denson, Earle, Fields, Getty,
Knight, Longwell, Lloyd, Mudd, Phelps, Stevens, Steiner,
Suit, Walsh—21.

The proceedings of yesterday were read and approved.

Mr. Longwell presented the petition of Thomas Shephard,
John D. Clemson, Isaiah Lightner and fifty other citizens of
Carroll county, for the repeal of the Death Penalty as a pre-
ventive of crime.
