years, and one for six years to serve without com-

 

pensation as a Board of Police Commissioners for

 

said city, and every two years thereafter, he shall

 

appoint one person for six years to serve in said

 

board, and said persons so appointed shall serve for

 

the time for which they shall be appointed, or until

 

their successors be appointed, unless they or any of

 

them shall sooner be removed for cause by the Gov-

 

ernor.

 

SUB-SECTION B. The said Board of Police Com-

 

missioners shall appoint for the City of Annapolis,

one chief of police and four police officers, on the

pointment, or until their successoi's are duly ap-

SUB-SECTION C. The chief of police, before enter-
ing upon the discharge of his office, shall give bond

unto the State of Maryland, to be approved by the

 

Board of Police Commissioners of said city, in the

 

penal sum of one thousand dollars, conditioned for

 

the faithful performance of the duties of his office,

 

and of the trust now reposed or which may hereafter

 

be reposed in him by law ; and shall also take the

 

oath prescribed in the charter of said city for alder-

 

men, and as compensation for his services shall re-

 

ceive the sum of seventy dollars per month ; each

 

police officer shall also bond as above, in the penal

 

sum of four hundred dollars, and as compensation

per month; said chief, officers and special police to

 

be paid by an order of the President of the Board of

 

Police Commissioners, upon the treasurer or financial

 

officer of the city, which said treasurer and his bond

 

is hereby made liable for such orders to the extent

 

of three hundred and ten dollars per month for the

 

regular police, and such orders for special police, not

 

exceeding fifty dollars per month, if he shall receive
