CHAPTER 418.
|
 
|
AN ACT to add an additional section to the charter
|
 
|
of the City of Cumberland, authorizing the
|
 
|
Mayor and Council of Cumberland to purchase or
|
 
|
condemn additional ground, for the use of said
|
 
|
city, for market-house and station-house.
|
 
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
|
 
|
Maryland, That the Mayor and City Council of the
|
Authorized
and empowered
|
City of Cumberland are hereby authorized and em-
|
 
|
powered to purchase such additional property as
|
 
|
they may think necessary, for the purpose of en-
|
 
|
larging the accommodations of the market in said
|
 
|
city; and in case that they cannot agree with the
|
 
|
owners of any property that they may desire to ob-
|
 
|
tain, or in case that the owner thereof is an infant,
|
 
|
or married woman, non compos mentis, or absent from
|
 
|
the State, then they may proceed and condemn the
|
 
|
said property in the same manner as they are now
|
 
|
authorized to condemn property for the opening or
|
Proviso.
|
extending any street or alley in said city; provided
|
 
|
that the costs of said property shall not excesd
|
 
|
twenty thousand dollars.
|

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take
|
 
|
effect from the date of its passage.
|

CHAPTER 419.
|
 
|
AN ACT to repeal sections ninety-four, ninety-five
|
 
|
and ninety-six, of article twenty-one, Public Local
|
 
|
Laws, entitled Washington county, and relating to
|
 
|
fences.
|
 
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
|
 
|
Maryland, That sections ninety-four, ninety-five and
|
Repealed.
|
ninety-six, of article twenty-one, entitled Washing-
|
 
|
ton county, relating to fences, be and the same is
|
 
|
hereby repealed.
