CHAPTER 417.

AN ACT to repeal section seventy-two, of article
|
 
|
five, of the Code of Public Local Laws, entitled
|
 
|
" Calvert county, " sub-title sheriff, " and to re-
|
 
|
enact the same with amendments.
|
 
|
SECTION 1. Se it enacted by the General Assembly of
|
 
|
Maryland, That section seventy-two, of article five,
|
Repealed and
|
of the Code of Public Local Laws, entitled " Calvert
|
re-enacted
|
county, " sub-title " sheriff, " be and the same is
|
 
|
hereby repealed and re-enacted to read as follows :
|
 
|
72. The Sheriff of Calvert county, shall receive
|
 
|
forty cents a day for keeping and boarding each
|
 
|
prisoner in jail, and shall also receive for the trans-
|

portation and delivery from Prince Frederic to the
|
 
|
State Penitentiary of every person convicted by the
|
 
|
Circuit Court for said county, and sentenced to said
|
 
|
penitentiary, a sum not to exceed twenty-five dollars,
|
 
|
for each; and every person so transported and de-
|
 
|
livered, to be levied for and paid by the county
|
 
|
commissioners, and the said county commissioners,
|
 
|
may allow such smaller compensation for such duty,
|
 
|
graduating the allowance according to the number
|
 
|
of convicts carried to the penitentiary, as in their
|
 
|
judgment may be adequate.
|
 
|
SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That all acts or parts
|
 
|
of acts inconsistent with this act, are hereby repealed.
|
Repealed.
|
SEC. 3. Be it further enacted, This act shall take
|
 
|
effect from and after the date of its passage.
|
