SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That the male citizens
|
commissioners
|
of said town, of the age of twenty-one years and up-
|
 
|
wards, having resided therein for the space of six
|
 
|
months next preceding the first Monday in May
|
 
|
next, may, on that day, at the town hall in said town,
|
 
|
and on the first Monday in May in each and every
|
 
|
year thereafter, be authorized to elect tive commis-
|
 
|
sioners for said town, who shall have resided within
|
 
|
the limits of the same for at least two years next
|
 
|
preceding the election.
|
 
|
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the justices of the
|

peace in East New Market election district, are

hereby empowered to act as judges of the first
|
 
|
election for said commissioners, who shall keep the
|
 
|
polls open from two o'clock P. M., until five o'clock
|
 
|
P. M. ; and shall conduct the said electron in the

same manner as an election for delegates to the
|
 
|
General Assembly, (except that registration shall
|
 
|
not be deemed a necessary qualification for voters,)
|
 
|
and as far as may be consistent with the provis-
|
 
|
ions of this act; and the said judges shall make
|
 
|
return under their hands and seals of the persons
|
 
|
elected, to the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Dor-
|
 
|
cheater county.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That all future elections
|

shall be held and conducted as shall be from time to

time directed by the laws of the corporation, the
|
 
|
same not being inconsistent with the provisions of
|
 
|
this act.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the said commis-

dent

sioners, elected according to the provisions of this
|
 
|
act, shall, on the first meeting after said election,
|
 
|
choose one of the said commissioners President of
|
 
|
the Board, whose duty it shall be to preside at the
|
 
|
meetings of said commissioners, to preserve order,
|
 
|
and give such directions as may be deemed neces-
|
 
|
sary to carry into effect the provisions of this act.
