so much thereof as may be necessary ; for the cost

fund

of printing the annual report of the Comptroller, one

 

thousand dollars ; for the expense of advertising the

 

list of insurance agents, five hundred dollars; for the

 

expense of fuel and light for the public buildings

 

and grounds, to be expended under the direction and

 

control of Augustus Gassaway, Secretary of the Sen-

 

ate, tive thousand dollars ; for the contingent fund

 

of the Commissioner of the Land Office, four hun-

 

dred dollars; for the postage of the Executive and

 

Treasury Department, the Land Office, the Secretary

 

of the Senate and Chief Clerk of the House of Dele-

 

gates two thousand dollars ; for additional temporary

 

clerical assistance in the Comptroller's office, and

 

traveling expenses of the Comptroller in the perform-

 

ance of duties imposed by law, or so much thereof

 

as may be necessary, fifteen hundred dollars; to the

 

State Librarian for purchasing stationery, one hun-

 

dred and fifty dollars; for the contingent fund of the

 

Court of Appeals, three hundred dollars.

 

SCHOOLS.

 

To the several counties of this State and to Balti-

 

more city, to be apportioned as the Legislature may

direct, four hundred and sixty thousand dollars, or

fund

whatever sum may be paid into the Treasury on

 

account of the levy of public School tax; for the free

 

school fund, such sums as may be received from the

 

bonus from bank dividends, from stock standing to

 

the credit of said fund, and so much of the revenue

 

from the Washington branch of the Baltimore and

 

Ohio Railroad as has been substituted for the surplus

 

revenue; to the several counties and City of Balti-

 

more, for the education of colored children, to be ap-

 

portioned by the Comptroller in proportion to the

 

number of colored inhabitants in each county and

 

Baltimore city, between the ages of six and twenty-

 

one years, one hundred thousand dollars ; provided,

that this amount of one hundred thousand dollars

 

includes the fifty thousand dollars appropriated by

 

the Senate bill for this purpose, if said Senate bill

 

becomes a law; for donations to colleges, academies

 

and schools, thirty-six thousand dollars, as per acts

 

and resolutions heretofore passed; provided, that

 

none of the appropriations to colleges, academies, and

 

schools shall be paid to any such institution unless
