THURSDAY, February 19th, 1874.

The Senate met at 11 o'clock, A. M.
Prayer by Rev. Mr. Kenzer.
Present at roll call:

Messrs. President, Blake, Brewer, Brattan, Claggett, Davis,
Denson, Earle, Fields, Getty, Longwell, Lloyd, Mudd, Mc-
Culloh, Phelps, Stevens, Steiner. Spencer, Suit. Tuck,
Walsh—22.

The proceedings of yesterday were read and approved.

Mr. Denson presented the petition of R. B. Coleman and
other citizens of Baltimore, against the passage of a law re-
stricting Barbers.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judi-
cial Proceedings.

Mr. Longwell presented the petition of sundry citizens of
Carroll county, asking that the name of George Mort of said
county be placed on the pension list.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pensions.

Mr. McCulloh presented the petition of William Moody
and forty-seven others, for the formation of a new county out
of parts of Allegany and Garrett.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judicial
Proceedings

Mr. Stevens presented the petition of ten citizens of Kent
county, of the Society of Friends, praying the abolition of
the death penalty.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judicial
Proceedings.

The President laid before the Senate the petition of J. P.
Pleasants & Sons, W. H. Cole and others, praying for the
passage of the Law relating to Attachment of Wages.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judicial
Proceedings.

On motion by Mr. Suit,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to intro-
