they shall have power to alter or renew at pleasure,

and shall have, enjoy, and may excercise all the

powers, rights and priviliges, which other corporate
bodies may lawfully do for the purposes mentioned

in this act.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall take

CHAPTER 265.
|
 
|
AN ACT to remove all gates from the public roads
|
 
|
in Prince George's county.
|
 
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
|
 
|
Maryland, That from and after the first day of June,
|

eighteen hundred and seventy-seven, it shall not be
|
 
|
lawful for any person, with or without the consent of
|
 
|
the County Commissioners, to erect, have or keep
|
 
|
any gate upon the public roads of Prince George's
|
 
|
county ; and the Road Supervisors of said county
|
 
|
shall cause all gates to be removed therefrom in their
|
 
|
respective district, from and after the date in this
|
 
|
section hereinbefore named.
|
 
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That any person who
|
 
|
shall in any way or manner hinder, obstruct, molest
|

or disturb any supervisor in the performance of the
|

duties required of him under the provisions of this
|
 
|
act, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and be liable
|
 
|
to presentment and indictment by the Grand Jury of
|
 
|
Prince George's county, and shall, on conviction
|
 
|
thereof by a court of law, be fined in a sum not less
|
 
|
than twenty-five dollars, nor more than one hundred
|
 
|
dollars, and be imprisoned in the county jail for not
|
 
|
Hess than thirty days nor more than ninety days, or
|
 
|
both, in the discretion of the court before which he
|
 
|
shall be tried and convicted ; the said fine to be ap-
|
 
|
plied to the road fund of the county.
|
