society, also a Secretary and Treasurer, all of which
officers and the committee shall be elected by ballot
at the first annual meeting of the society, a majority
of the members present to determine such election.
These officers and the committee shall serve for one
year from the date of their election, and until their
successors are elected, and shall receive no pecuniary
compensation for their services.
SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That there shall be a	Board or man-

said board shall perform such duties as may be re-
quired by the society under such by-laws as may be
adopted.
SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That there shall be two	Meetings.
meetings of the society every year at its principal
office, the first to be held on the third Thursday in
January, and the second on the second Wednesday
in September; the annual election of the officers
above-named and the executive committee shall take
place at the January meeting, but in case such elec-
tion shall not take place on that day, said election
may take place on a subsequent day, of which at
least two weeks' public notice shall be given in a
newspaper published in Rockville, in said county . The President or any one of the Vice Presidents shall
have power to call such meetings of the society or
Board of Management as shall be deemed necessary.
SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the objects of this	Objects.
society shall be to promote the advancements of
agriculture, horticulture, the mechanic arts and
manufactures dependent on or connected therewith,
the improvement of the breeds of all domestic ani-
mals associated with farming, and for encouraging
of the development of the resources of the county.

ize under this act, it shall be submitted to a meeting
of the members of the Agricultural Society of Mont-
gomery county, to be called by the President of the
society, after notice published in the county news-
papers at least three weeks previous thereto; audit
adopted by a majority of the members then present,
said meeting shall immediately proceed to an elec-
