CHAPTER 242.

 

AN ACT to repeal, amend and re-enact section one

 

hundred and thirty-six of article twelve, of the

 

Code of Public Local Laws, title "Harford

 

County," sub-title " Sheriff."

Repealed and

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of

re-enacted

Maryland, That section one hundred and thirty-six

 

of article twelve, of the Code of Public Local Laws,

 

title " Harford County," sub-title " Sheriff," be re-

 

pealed, amended, and re-enacted, so as to read as-

 

follows :

Allowance to

136. The sheriff of said county shall be allowed

two dollars and a half a day for each day he shall attend
the Circuit Court for said county, in person or by de-

 

puty, and he shall be allowed by the Circuit Court for

 

said county all actual expenses incurred in serving

 

aiiy bench warrant or attachmen t issued by said court,

 

and for carrying and conveying any person, under

 

sentence, to the State Penitentiary ; and to or from

 

the jails of the several counties, and the jail or station

 

houses of the City of Baltimore, he shall be allowed

by the court such reasonable expenses as the judg-
ment of the court may deem proper; and he shall

 

return, under oath, to the said court an account, with

 

the items of his charges, and they shall in no case be

 

paid by the County Commissioners, until he shall

 

have proved to the satisfaction of the said Circuit

 

Court that the expenses charged for have actually

 

been incurred by him ; nor until the said court shall

 

pass an order directing the payment to be made.

In force.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take

 

effect from the date of its passage.
