LAWS OF MARYLAND.

 

known as " Uplands, " in said county, for the sum. of

 

forty-six thousand five hundred dollars, and have

 

also furnished materials and done extra work from

 

time to time as was deemed advisable and necessary

 

by the said County Commissioners, which amounted

 

to the sum often thousand three hundred and eighty-

 

five dollars, making a total of fifty-six thousand

 

fight hundred and eighty-five dollars, for completing
said Alms-house, and whereas the said Codling and

 

Lishear, have faithfully and honestly performed their

 

contract in every particular, and after a careful ex-

 

amination it appears that owing to a general increase

 

in prices of materials, and to other unforseen causes

 

incidental to the construction of large public buildings,
that the said Codling and Lishear have not been ade-

 

quately or properly compensated for material fur-

 

nished and labor performed in constructing said

 

Alms-house, therefore —

Authorized to

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of

pay Codling
and Lishear

Maryland, That the County Commissioners of Balti-

 

more county, be and they are hereby authorized and

 

requested to pay to Codlingand Lishear. contractors for
building the " new Alms-house " in said county,

 

the sum of two thousand dollars, out of any moneys

 

now in hand, or that may hereafter come into their

 

hands, or to be levied for at the next annual county

 

levy, as an additional and extra amount for the

 

building and completion of said Alms-house, over and

 

above the amount contracted for and heretofore paid

 

to the said Codling and Lishear, by the said County

 

Commissioners.

 

SEC. 2. And, be it enacted, That so much of the act

 

passed at the January session, eighteen hundred and

Repealed

seventy-two, chapter three hundred and sixty-eight,

 

of the General Assembly of Maryland as may be in-

 

consistent with the provisions of this act, and all

 

other acts or parts of acts of the General Assembly of

 

Maryland, inconsistent with the provisions of this

 

act be and the same are hereby repealed.

In force

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall take

 

effect from the date of its passage.
