Frederick, passed February the 24th, 1841, chapter 125,"

On motion by Mr. Brattan,
Referred to the Committee on Judicial Proceedings.

The Senate bill entitled "An Act to regulate the number
of Justices of the Peace and Constables for Garrett county,"

Being on second reading,

Mr. Getty submitted the following amendment:

Section 1, line 15, add after the word "Constable,'' "and
that the Governor, be and he is hereby authorized and em-
powered to appoint and commission such Justices of the
Peace."

Which was adopted.

Said bill, as amended, was read the second time and or-
dered to be engrossed for a third reading.

The Senate bill entitled "An Act to repeal chapter 233, of
An Act of 1870, entitled au Act to repeal section 9, of
Article XXVIII. of the Code of Public General Laws relat-
ing to the publication of county expenses so far as the same
relates to Caroline county, and to re-enact the same with
amendments,"

Was read the second time and ordered to be engrosed for
a third reading.

The Senate bill entitled ''An Act to authorize the Clerk of
the Circuit Court for Worcester county, to copy the general
index to land records in his office . from seventeen hundred
and forty-four,"

The Senate bill entitled ''An Act to authorize the Clerk of
the County Commissioners for Somerset county, to administer
oaths in certain cases,"

Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The Senate bill entitled "An Act to provide for the relin-
quishment to the United States, in certain cases of title to and
jurisdiction over land for sites of light-houses, beacons and
other aids to navigation for the protection of beacons, buoys
and floating-guides on the coast and in the waters of this
State,"
