LAWS OF MARYLAND.

 

1. Edward Buckey, James Whitehill, Asbury H.

 

Hunt, Andrew Boyd, and John H. Keller, the pre-

 

sent trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Church of

Incorporation

Frederick, together with such additional trustees,

 

not exceeding the number of nine in all, as may be

 

elected by the next Quarterly Conference of the

 

Methodist Episcopal Church of Frederick City Sta-

 

tion, held after the passage of this act, and their suc-

 

cessors, are hereby declared to be a body politic and

 

corporate by the name, style and title of the " Trus-

 

tees of the Methodist Episcopal Church of Frederick,"

 

and by the same name shall have perpetual succes-

sion, to have, hold, enjoy, and be seized and pos-

 

sessed of real, personal, and mixed estate; to sell and

 

convey the same; to sue and be sued, plead and be

 

impleaded, in any court of law or equity in this State

 

or elsewhere; to make and have a common seal, and

 

the same to break, alter, or renew at pleasure ; and

 

also to establish such by-laws or ordinances as shall

 

appear necessary for regulating the temporal con-

 

cerns of said church; provided, the same be not in-

 

consistent with the laws of this State, or the rules of

 

discipline which have been or may be established by

 

the competent and legal authorities of the Methodist

 

Episcopal Church in the United States.

 

2. There shall annually be elected by the Fourth

 

Quarterly Conference of Frederick City Station of the

Annually elect

Methodist Episcopal Church in accordance with the

 

discipline of the Methodist Episcopal Church, such

 

number of trustees, not exceeding nine, nor Jess than

 

three in number, as such Quarterly Conference may

 

deem expedient, and who, for the time being and

 

until their successors are duly elected, shall consti-

 

tute the Trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Church

 

of Frederick, and as such shall hold and manage and

 

control all property now belonging to the Trustees of

 

the Methodist Episcopal Church of Frederick, or

 

that may be by them hereafter required, in accord-

 

ance with the discipline of said church; provided

 

always, that should any of said trustees at any time be

 

responsible for any sum or sums of money by reason

 

of their trusteeship on account of said church pro-

 

perty, such trustees so responsible shall not be ejected

 

or removed from their trusteeship while such liabil-

 

ity exists, unless they shall be fully indemnified and

 

secured from loss, or the creditor is willing to accept
