The petition of H. W. Cook, B. F. Weishampel, and ten
others, citizens of Baltimore, praying for the abolition of the
death penalty.

Which was read and referred to the Committee Judicial
Proceedings.

Mr. Davis presented the petition of Henry A. Silver for
compensation for services as State Librarian.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Finance.

Mr. Stevens, from the Committee on Corporations reported
favorably on

The Senate bill entitled "Au Act supplementary to an Act
of November Session, 1812, chapter 159, entitled 'an Act for
founding a University in the city or precincts of Baltimore
by the name of the University of Maryland,' and to authorize
the Regents of the University of Maryland to dispose of a
portion of the property held by the said University for the
use of its faculty of Physic, and to apply the proceeds to-
wards the erection of a hospital for the' use of said faculty
and the school of medicine under its direction.

Mr. Earle, from the Committee on Finance, reported
favorably on

The Senate bill entitled "Au Act to appropriate a sum of
money to complete and ornament the Cemetery provided for
the interment of the remains of the Confederate dead at Point
Lookout."
