304 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 17,

TUESDAY, February 17th, 1874.
The Senate met,
Prayer by Rev. Mr. Kinzer.

Present the following Senators :

Messrs. President, Aydelott, Brewer, Billingsley, Brattan,
Claggett, Davis, Denson, Earle, Fields, Getty, Longwell,
Lloyd, McCulloh, Phelps, Stevens, Steiner, Spencer, Suit,
Tuck, Walsh—21.

The proceedings of yesterday were read and approved.

Mr. Steiner presented the petition of Magdalene Ramsburg,
widow of Joseph Ramsburg, a soldier of the war of 1812,
praying the restoration of her name to the pension list, from
which it was omitted during the Session of 1870, and pray-
ing that the amount lost through said omission may be paid
her.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pensions.

Mr. Denson presented the petition of the Managers of the
Home of the Friendless of the city of Baltimore, asking a
continuance of the annual appropriation to said Institution.

Which was read and. referred to the Committee on Finance.

Mr. Suit presented the petitions of Elizabeth Simpson, of
Price George's county, Elizabeth Havener, Margaret Talbot,
Anna Brooks, widows of soldiers of the war of 1812, praying
a pension also, Nathaniel Soper, a soldier of the war of 1812,
praying a pension.

Which were read and referred to the Committee on Pensions.

Mr. Billiiigsley presented the memorial of Mordecai Clin-
ton Jones, praying to have his name placed on the pension
rolls.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pensions.

Mr. Stevens presented the petition of George F. Armor,
and thirteen others, citizens of Baltimore, praying for the
abolition of the death penalty.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judicial
Proceedings.
