LAWS OF MARYLAND.

 

CHAPTER 60.

 

AN ACT to alter and amend the charter of the

 

Hampshire and Baltimore Coal Company, in-

 

corporated by an act entitled, " an act to recognize

 

the Hampshire and Baltimore Coal Company, a

 

corporation created by and existing under the laws

 

of the State of West Virginia, as a corporation in

 

the State of Maryland, and to authorize it to ex-

 

ercfse the powers and privileges of a corporation

 

within the State of Maryland, for " Mining and

 

other purposes," passed at January session, eighteen

 

hundred and sixty-four, chapter two hundred and

 

ninety-five, by repealing the second section thereof,

 

and amending the same, and re-enacting it as

 

amended.

Preamble

WHEREAS, the said Hampshire and Baltimore

 

Coal Company, owns certain tracts of coal land in

 

Allegany county, the situation of which is inaccessibly

 

by ordinary rail roads, for the transportation of coal

 

from its mines, and its delivery on the line of the-

 

Cumberland and Pennsylvania Railroad or Baltimore

 

and Ohio Railroad, and necessitates the construction

 

of works and the improvements in the form of rail-

 

roads, bridges, incline plains and machinery, the

 

cost of which, and also the expense of maintaining

 

and operating the same, will be unusually great, and

 

the alterations of its charter hereby made, are

 

necessary to enable said corporation to develope its

 

property and accomplish the ends and purposes of

 

its incorporation, and the public interest and wprks

 

of internal improvement of the State, will be pro-

 

moted by the successful prosecution of its business,

 

therefore —

Repealed

SECTION 1. Se it enacted by the General Assembly of

 

Maryland, That section two of the act of eighteen

 

hundred and sixty-four, chapter two hundred and

 

ninety-five, entitled "an act to recognize the Hamp-

 

shire and Baltimore Coal Company, a corporation

 

created by and existing under the laws of the State

 

of West Virginia, as a corporation in the State of
