county, shall pay and return the same as he would

money paid for any other purpose, and the said jus-

tice of the peace shall destroy said head, so it cannot

again be used, fraudulently.

SEC 2 Be it enacted, That this act shall take effect

from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 24.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments

section one hundred and thirty-five, of article twelve

of the Code of Public Local Laws, title " Harford

county," sub-title " Sheriffs," as amended and re'

enacted by chapter three hundred and forty, of the

acts passed January session, eighteen hundred and

seventy-two.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of

Repealing and

Maryland, That section one hundred and thirty-five,

re-enacting

amended by chapter three hundred and forty of the

act, passed at the January session, eighteen hundred

and seventy-two, be repealed, amended, and re-

enacted so as to read as follovvs :
