WHEREAS, It has been represented to this General

Preamble
|
Assembly that there is a judgment debt of one thou-
|
 
|
sand dollars and some interest thereon, now held by
|
 
|
the Board of County School Commissioners of Cecil
|
 
|
county, which is a Hen upon the Academy building
|
 
|
and lot of land, and that since said judgment has
|
 
|
been held by the said Board of County School Com-
|
 
|
missioners the said Acadamy property has been used
|
 
|
and occupied for nearly six years for the public free
|
 
|
schools of said county, free of rent, and that the
|
 
|
furniture of said building, was also appropriated
|
 
|
and used by and for said free schools, during said
|
 
|
period, thereby requiring the expenditure of a large
|
 
|
sum of money, by said Trustees, in repairing the
|
 
|
building and fences and replacing the furniture,
|
 
|
and that the money thus necessarily expended, by
|
 
|
said Trustees, together with a fair rent for the prem-
|
 
|
ises, so as aforesaid used for the free schools, would
|
 
|
exceed in amount the said judgment debt and inter-
|
 
|
est; and whereas it seems right and proper that said
|
 
|
judgment should be released, in consideration of the
|
 
|
benefits and advantages derived, without charge by
|
 
|
said public schools from the use and occupation of
|
 
|
said academy property and furniture, therefore —
|
 
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
|

missioners of Cecil county, be and they are hereby
|
 
|
authorized, if in their discretion they deem it proper
|
 
|
so to do, to release the said judgment now held by
|
 
|
them against the Trustees of the Elkton Academy.
