Mr. Tuck presented the petition of tax-payers of Prince
George's county, praying that the County Treasurer may be
elected by the people.

Which was real and referred to Messrs. Tuck, Fields and
Suit.

Mr. Earle, from the Committee on Finance, reported

The Senate bill entitled "An Act to establish a Commis-
sion of Fisheries of the State of Maryland, defining its duties,
and to appropriate a sum of money to defray the expenses
thereof with the following amendment:"

AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

"By and with the advice and consent of the Senate."
Which was read and adopted.

Said bill, as amended, was read the second time and or-
dered to be engrossed for a third reading.

On motion by Mr. Knight,

The vote by which the House bill entitled "An Act to re-
peal an Act, entitled an Act to repeal section 4 of Article
XLI. of the Code of Public General Laws, title 'Fish and
Fisheries,' sub-title 'Head of Bay,' and to re-enact section 4
of Article XLI. of the Code of Public General Laws,"

Was ordered to lie over, was reconsidered,
On motion by Mr. Knight,

The said bill was referred to the Committee on Chesapeake
Bay and its Tributaries.

Mr. Tuck presented the petition of forty citizens of Anne
Arundel county, praying the passage of a law for the protec-
tion of partridges in said county.

Referred to Messrs. Tuck, Brattan and Earle.

, Mr. Knight presented the petition of eighty-four citizens of
Kent and Cecil counties, against repealing the law prohibit-
ing the setting of stake nets in the head of Chesapeake Bay
and Tributaries.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Chesa-
peake Bay and its Tributaries.

Mr. Spencer presented the petition of T. J. Shallcross and
others, against the passage of a law permitting stake nets in
the head waters of the Bay.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the Ches-
apeake Bay and its Tributaries.
