The petition of J. F. Wilson, and others, against the per-
mitting of stake nets in the head waters of Chesapeake Bay.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Chesa-
peake Bay and its Tributaries.

The Clerk of the House of Delegates appeared and deliv-
ered the following message:

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

February 11th, 1874.
Gentlemen of the Senate :

We have received your message proposing that the Joint
Committee to visit the Spring Grove Asylum, extend their
visit to the Maryland Industrial School for Girls, and re-
spectfully concur therein.

MILTON Y. KIDD,

Chief Clerk.

The Senate bill entitled "An Act to authorize the Comp-
troller to audit and pay pensions to certain persons, soldiers
of the war of 1812, and widows of soldiers of said war.

Being on second reading,

Mr. Tuck submitted the following amendment:

"Of Anne Arundel county, William R. Thompson."

Which was adopted.

Mr. Claggett submitted the following amendment:

Add of Washington county, "Samuel Lutz, Susan Miller,
George Long, George Uhler, Catharine Kline, Samuel Crea-
ger, Catharine Moore, Magdaline Wright, Ann Frantz, Ann
Moxley, James Sevails, Elizabeth Woolfkill, Mary Crum."

Which was adopted.

Mr. Davis submitted the following amendment:

Strike out "Murray Matthews," and insert "Matthew Mur-
ray," on the 13th line of the second section, and add the name
"William Peddicord," after the name of "Margaret Ann
Shipley," on 16th line of 2d section.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Earle submitted the following amendment:

Amend section 2, line 5, by inserting after the name of
"Hannah J. Hackett," from and after April 1870.
