the appointment of a Joint Special Committee of five, two on
the part of the Senate and three on the part of the House, to
visit the House of Refuge and Maryland Penitentiary, and to
examine into their condition—the manner in which they are
conducted—and to report to the two Housed.

We have appointed on the part of the Senate Messrs. Blake
and Aydelotte.

Which was read, assented to, and sent to the House of Del-
egates.

On motion by Mr. Phelps,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Phelps, Tuck and Earle, to
report a bill for the protection of the Property Holders in
Dorchester county, and especially those engaged in fruit
growing.

On motion by Mr. Crawford,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Crawford, Claggett and
Getty, to introduce a bill to repeal Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
and 7, of Chapter 2, of the Acts of 1872, relating to Fences
in Wicomico county, and re-enact same with amendments.

On motion by Mr. Claggett,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations to
report a bill entitled "An Act to repeal Section 161, of Arti-
cle XXL, of the Public Local Laws, title 'Washington Coun-
ty,' sub-title 'Hancock," and to re-enact the same with amend-
ments, and to add sub-sections thereto."

On motion by Mr. Walsh,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to introduce a bill to repeal Sections 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7,
8 and 9, of Article IV., Code of Public General Laws, enti-
tled "Aliens," and re-enact the same with amendments.

On motion by Mr. Getty,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Getty, Aydelotte and Tuck,
to introduce a bill to authorize an election for the purpose of
selecting and establishing the County Seat in Garrett county,
by a majority vote.

On motion by Mr. Claggett,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to report
a bill to pay to Banner Graves, of Washington county, the
