sum of twenty dollars, pension due to Joseph Graves, de-
ceased.

On motion by Mr. Longwell,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Longwell, Knight and Blake,
to introduce a bill to authorize Hashabiah Haines, of Carroll
county, to settle his accounts as guardian to William L.
Haines, in the Orphans' Court of Baltimore city, and to de-
liver over the estate to his ward.

On motion by Mr. Claggett,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to report a bill entitled "An Act to add an additional
Section to Article XL., of the Code of Public General Laws,
entitled 'Fines and Forfeitures,' to come in after Section 3."

On motion by Mr. Steiner,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations, to
introduce a bill, entitled, "An Act to incorporate the Trustees
of the Synod of the Potomac of the Reformed Church in the
United States."

Also,

To the Committee on Finance to introduce a bill, entitled,
"An Act to authorize the County Commissioners of Frederick
county, to revise and correct the valuation of the property in
said county, assessed to John M. Whetmore, George I.
Himmel and Joseph McCoskery."

The Clerk of the House of Delegates appeared and deliv-
ed the following message:

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

January 14, 1874.
Gentlemen of the Senate :

We propose with the concurrence of your Honorable Body,
that the Committees on Education of the two Houses, be au-
thorized to act as a Joint Standing Committee on Education.

Chief Clerk.

On motion by Mr. Blake,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to report a bill to regulate the appointments of Justices
of the Peace and Constables, for the City of Baltimore.
