The Senate bill entitled an Act supplementary to an Act
passed March 2nd, 1874, entitled an Act to provide for the
defense of Officers of Registration and Judges of Election
who are or may be indicted in the United States Courts
for acts done in performance of duties imposed by the Con-
stitution and Laws of this State, which are alleged to be in
violation of the Act of Congress, approved May 31st, 1870,
entitled " An Act to enforce the rights of citizens of the United
States to vote in the several States of this Union," with pro-
posed amendments.

AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.

Section 1, lines 15 and 16, strike out the words "to each
counsel."

Section 1, line 16, insert the words "actually tried"
after the words "each case."

Section 2, line 3, insert the words " not exceeding the sum
above named" after the words "such sums."

The question recurring upon the adoption of the first
amendment proposed,
