On motion of Mr. Henkle,

Made the order of the day for to-morrow, Wednesday, at
1 o'clock, P. M.

Mr. Harig, from the Committee on Claims, reported favor-
ably,

A bill entitled an Act for the relief of Rebecca Cresap, by
refunding State and county taxes erroneously paid.

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Watkins, Chairman of the Committee on Ways and
Means, reported unfavorably,

A bill entitled an Act to grant the aid of the State to the
Maryland Inebriate Asylum,

And the unfavorable report was adopted.
Also, favorably,

A bill entitled an Act to purchase copies of the Laws and
Rules of the Land Office of Maryland, and to make an ap-
propriation to pay for the same.

Which was read a first time.

Also, reported without amendments,

A bill entitled an Act to amend the charter of the Chesa-
peake and Ohio Canal Company, and to repeal so much of
the Act passed March 22d, 1833, entitled an Act to provide
for the continuation of the Baltimore and Ohio Kail Koad to
Harper's Ferry, and for other purposes, as prohibits the
Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company from selling or dis-
posing of any of the surplus water of said canal, to be applied
anywhere within this State to the manufacture of any
species or description of grain, &c.

Which was considered.

Mr. McColgan, from the Committee on the Judiciary, re-
ported,

The Senate bill entitled an Act to provide for the relin-
quishment to the United States, in certain cases, of title to,
and jurisdiction over land-sites of light-houses, beacons and
other aids to navigation, and for the better protection of
beacons, buoys and floating-guides on the coast and in the
waters of this State, with proposed amendment.

AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Strike out sections 5 and 6.

The proposed amendments were adopted, and the bill, as
amended, read a second time.
