Mr. Gordy, Chairman of a Select Committee, reported
favorably,

A bill entitled an Act to repeal section 124, of Article 10,
Code of Public Local Laws, title " Dorchester County," sub-
title "Justices of the Peace and Constables," and re-enact
the same with amendments.

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Brace, Chairman of a Select Committee, reported
favorably,

A bill entitled an Act to add a new section to Article 1,
of the Code of Public Local Laws, entitled "Allegany
County," sub-title "Sheriff."

Which was read a first time.

The bill entitled an Act to establish the Maryland House
of Correction,

Being upon a second reading,
Mr. Freaner submitted the following amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.

Section 1, line 3, after the words "Board of Public Works,"
insert "Attorney General, Outerbridge Horsey, Patrick
Hamill, John Brooke Boyle, G. M. Watkins."

Pending the consideration whereof,
On motion of Mr. Seth,

The further consideration thereof was postponed, and said
bill made the order of the day for to-morrow at 12 o'clock.

On motion of Freaner, (the rules being suspended,)

The House proceeded to the consideration of

The Senate bill entitled an Act to establish a Commission
of Fisheries of the State of Maryland, define its duties and to
appropriate a sum of money to defray the expenses thereof.

Said bill being upon a third reading,

The question recurring upon the amendment submitted by
Mr. Gordy on the 6th instant, viz :

"That one of the Commissioners shall come from the Eas-
tern and one from the Western Shore of the State."

The amendment proposed by Mr. Gordy was then adopted,
and the bill, as amended, passed by yeas and nays, as
follows:
