TUESDAY, March 17th, 1874.

The House met, and was opened with prayer by the Rev.
Mr. Father Oberly.

Present at the call of the roll, the following members:

Messrs. Hines, (Speaker,) Colton, Merritt, Henkle, Rob-
inson, Nutwell, Bird, Turner, of Calvert, Lancaster, Buch-
anan, Matthews, Merryman, Turner, of Baltimore county,
Seth, Valliant, Sudler, Coulbourn, Duer, Gordy, Hodson,
Mackey, Davis, Etchison, Latchford, Robey, Thompson,
Kemp, Priiitt, Merrill, Koons, Miller, Nicodemus, Annan,
Grafton, Lee, Riley, Dawson, McCosker, T. H. Hamilton,
Cooper, C. R. Hamilton, McWilliams, Foster, Staylor, Stew-
art, of Baltimore city, McAleese, Gill, Hart, Loane, Green-
field, McColgan, Harig, Groh, Fenton, Berry, Freaner,
Grimes, Clark, Watkins, Wier, Wack, Park, Brace, Waters,
Vanderford, Galt, Brown, Maclin, Stewarfc, of Howard,
Leonard, Bedsworth—72.

Mr. Watkins, Chairman of the Committee on Ways and
Means, reported favorably,

A hill entitled an Act making appropriation for the sup-
port of the State Government, for the year ending 31st of
December, 1874.

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Thompson presented the petition of Dr. W. H. De-
courcy and two hundred and fifty others, against exempting
Queen Anne's county from the operation of the Dog Law.

Which was read and referred to the Queen Anne's delega-
tion and Mr. Seth.

Mr. Nicodemus presented the petition of Mr. Appleman,
of Frederick county, asking for the passage of a law to pre-
vent lawyers from swindling the community.

Which was read and referred to the Frederick and Wash-
ington county delegations.

Mr. Koons presented the petition of Isaac Renner, Samuel
D. Fox and William H. Martz, Trustees of Primary School
District No. 104, of Election District.No. 11, praying the
passage of an Act authorizing them to sell and convey the
school-house in said district.

Which was read and referred to the Frederick delegation.

Mr. Leonard presented the petition of citizens of Wicomico
county, praying the passage of a law authorizing the County
Commissioners to levy money to build a court-house and jail.
