veyor of Washington county to survey all public roads here-
after to be opened by the County Commissioners, and to make
a record thereof, and to make a record of all the public roads
heretofore opened by the County Commissioners, or used as
public roads by the public,

The bill entitled an Act to establish and maintain free
turnpikes, highways and bridges within the proposed ex-
tended corporate limits of Baltimore City,
Being upon a second reading,
Mr. Henkle submitted the following amendment:
AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Amend by adding as follows:
At end of section : "Provided, That the City of Baltimore
shall not be required to pay any sum or sums of money as
damages, or in compensation for any such part or portion of
any such bridge, unless the county adjoining, and containing
within its limits the remainder of the same, shall also
pay for and render free to public travel, and from
all tolls or charges, the portion or portions of such
bridge or bridges lying within said adjoining county;
and the said City of Baltimore shall not at any time be re-
quired to maintain or keep in safe condition and proper re-
pair such portion of any bridge, unless the portion thereof
