802 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Mar. 16,

Mr. Maclin presented the petition .of Israel Duvall, a sol-
dier of the war of 1812, for pension and back pay.

Which, was read and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions,

Mr. Latchford presented the petition of Phileman Jones, a
soldier of the war 1812, praying for a pension.

Which was read and referred lo the Committee on Pen-
sions.

Mr. Grafton presented the petition of David Tucker and
forty-two other citizens of Harford county, for Local Option
and Damage Laws.

Which was read and referred to the Select Committee on
Temperance.

Mr. Merryman presented the petition of Wilson Towsend,
Benj. M. Buck, Wm. K. Merritt and forty-three other resi-
dents of the 12th district of Baltimore county, for a Stock
Law in said district.

Which was read and referred to the Baltimore county dele-
gation.

Mr. Duer submitted the following order:

Ordered, That it he entered on the Journal that Mr. Sud-
ler is absent on account of urgent business.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Wack submitted the following order:

Ordered, That John Wier be excused to-day on account of
urgent business at home.

Which was adopted.
Also,

Ordered, That W. Brace, Jr., be excused for non-attend-
ance to-day on account of urgent business.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Seth submitted the following order:

Ordered, That this House sit to-day for transaction of local
business only, and that each county delegation and each Leg-
islative district of Baltimore City shall name one bill either
apon its second or third reading.

Which was read.

The question then recurring upon the adoption of the
order,

Mr. Seth demanded the yeas and nays.
