MONDAY, March 16th, 1874.

The House met and was opened with prayer by the Rev.

Mr. Kinzer.

Present at the call of the roll, the following members :

Messrs. Hines, (Speaker,) Colton, Henkle, Bird, Lancaster,
Buchanan, Merryman, Turner, of Baltimore county, Seth,
Valliant, Coulbourn, Duer, Grordy, Hodson, Etchison, Latch-
ford, Robey, Thompson, Kernp, Pruitt, Merrill, Annan,
Grafton, Eiley, Dawson, McCosker, T. H. Hamilton, Cooper,
Me Williams, Staylor, Stewart, of Baltimore city, McAleese,

Gill, Loane, McColgan, Joyce, Groh, Fenton, Wack, Park,
Waters, Vanderford, Galt, Brown, Maclin, Stewart, of How-

ard, Leonard, Bedsworth—48.

Mr. Seth presented the petition of J. Walter Skriven,
George H. Leaverton, Comegys Cosden and twenty other

citizens of Kent county, praying the passage of a law to com-
pel all male citizens of the county over 18 years of age, to
perform in person or by proxy two days work in the public
roads of said county.

Which was read and referred to Messrs. Merritt, Hines and
Seth.

Mr. Riley presented the petition of S. S. James and one
hundred and seventy-five other citizens of Harford county, in
opposition to dividing districts in said county.

Which was read and referred to the Harford delegation.

Mr. Merryman presented the petition of Thomas D.
Cockey, remonstrating against granting the power to transfer
a certain burying ground in Baltimore county.

Which was read and referred to the Baltimore county del-
egation.

Mr. Seth presented the petition of John Judefind and ten
other citizens of Kent county, praying the passage of a law
requiring every male person over 18 years of age to do two

days work on the public roads of said county, or furnish a sub-
stitute.

Which was read and referred to Messrs. Merritt, Hines and
Seth.

Mr. Vanderford presented the petition of one hundred and
twenty citizens of Uniontown, Myers and Westminster dis-
tricts, in Carroll county, praying for a new election district,
to be formed out of parts of said districts, to be styled the
"Thirteenth Election District of Carroll County," the polls
to be held at Pleasant Valley.

Which was read and referred to the Carroll delegation.
